Abstract
Microstructural characterization has been performed on the decompositi on in a Ni-37 at.% Co-5% Nb alloy during ageing at 500 degrees C For t imes up to 501 h. Atom probe field ion and transmission electron micro scopy data revealed a fine scale phase separation involving a Ni3Nb ph ase and a Go-enriched matrix. This phase separation explains the inabi lity of a solid solution strengthening model which was developed to pr edict the yield stress for ternary Ni-M-Nb alloys. (C) 1998 Elsevier S cience S.A.
