Abstract
A statistical analysis of the solute distribution in amorphous Pd40Ni4 0P20, has been performed with atom probe field ion microscopy (APFIM). Atom probe results indicate that chemical short range ordering is pre sent in the as-cast alloy. Phase separation at the nanometer level is observed in glassy samples after annealing above the glass-transition temperature. Crystallization proceeds by phase separation into three d istinct crystalline phases. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
