M. Katayama et M. Ohmori, EXPRESSION OF AN ADENYLATE-CYCLASE GENE OF ANABAENA-CYLINDRICA IN THECYANOBACTERIUM ANABAENA SP. STRAIN PCC-7120, Plant and Cell Physiology, 39(7), 1998, pp. 786-789
A transformant of Anabaena 7120 was made by introducing a plasmid that
includes an adenylate cyclase gene of Anabaena cylindrica. Expression
of this gene was driven by the bacterial tac promoter. Transformants
accumulate cAMP 170 fold higher than the concentration in the parental
strain. The transformation resulted in the fragmentation of filaments
in both nitrogen-replete and nitrogen-free media. It was suggested th
at this fragmentation caused the inhibition of growth under nitrogen-f
ixing conditions.
