Abstract
A brief introduction to the construction, operation, and performance o f gas-filled proportional detectors with LC delay line readout is give n. Measurements illustrating some of the fundamental physical principl es involved and a method for obtaining accurate response curves for li near detectors are described. The reaction-diffusion properties of the detection process are illustrated by Turing patterns that can be obse rved during homogeneous irradiation.
