C. Eller et P. Nawrotzki, DYNAMIC STABILITY ANALYSIS OF A 2-BAR TRUSS USING NUMERICAL DETECTIONCONCEPTS, Zeitschrift fur angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 78(7), 1998, pp. 483-493
Stability analysis often plays an important role in problems of struct
ural dynamics. To handle the occurring problems correctly, the involve
d engineer must have basic knowledge of the stability theory. There ar
e so many ways for its solution in the references that there might be
doubts whether Me proposed algorithms reflect the arising task to a su
fficient extent. Therefore, the goal of the present article is to intr
oduce a uniform stability concept on the basis of Lyapunov exponents.
From this, suitable numerical algorithms for different types of stabil
ity problems can be derived directly. Lyapunov exponents enable the tr
eatment of stability problems of discrete and discretized structures u
nder nearly arbitrary restrictions. The efficiency of the derived algo
rithms is documented for a two-bar-truss.
