We investigate the influence of correlated initial conditions on the t
emporal evolution of a (d+1)-dimensional critical directed percolation
process. Generating initial states with correlations [s(i)s(i+r)]simi
lar to r(sigma-d), we observe that the density of active sites in Mont
e Carlo simulations evolves as p(t)similar to t(kappa). The exponent k
appa depends continuously on sigma, and varies in the range - beta/nu(
parallel to)less than or equal to kappa less than or equal to eta. Our
numerical results are confirmed by an exact field-theoretical renorma
lization group calculation.
