Taking the difference-quotient turbulence model into consideration, th
e mean velocities and the second-order fluctuation correlations, also
called Reynolds stresses, of the axisymmetric isothermal jet in a quie
scent surrounding are analytically calculated. Tn-ee propositions are
stated and proved. They relate a normalized turbulence fluctuation int
ensity and two turbulent energies on the cel!ter line of the jet to it
s spreading angle. The experiments confirm all propositions and severa
l other model results convincingly.
