For several discrete growth models, the damping lime of layer-by-layer
growth, manifesting itself in oscillations of the surface width, will
be related to parameters appearing in the corresponding continuum equ
ations. The control parameter in all cases is the so called noise-redu
ction parameter m. The damping time depends on m with power laws deter
mined by the continuum equations. The Eden model (versions A and B), a
nd models related to molecular beam epitaxy are considered.
