G. Mato, STOCHASTIC RESONANCE IN NEURAL SYSTEMS - EFFECT OF TEMPORAL CORRELATION IN THE SPIKE TRAINS, Physical review. E, Statistical physics, plasmas, fluids, and related interdisciplinary topics, 58(1), 1998, pp. 876-880
We consider here the effect of temporal correlations on the transmissi
on of spike trains in an integrate-and-fire neuron. We find that if th
e noisy input spike train is variable enough, the signal-to-noise rati
o can display more than one peak as a function of the noise strength.
This result is analyzed in terms of a simple probabilistic description
of the problem.
