Abstract
It was investigated to what extent concepts of motivational psychology are taken into consideration in theories of complex situated learning . As an example, the anchored instruction theory was chosen. It turned out that within theories of situated learning the goal of adequately motivating learners was dealt.with in a dysfunctional manner. As a res ult suboptimal. interactions between learners and learning environment leading to unfavorable motivational and cognitive effects can crop up . The consideration of domain specific aspects is indicated as a metho d of preventing features of the learning environment from inducing an ineffective direction of motivation. Therefore normative decisions hav e to be made, especially concerning the specification of learning goal s.
