Abstract
A cultural study of Podosordaria mexicana, the type species of the gen us, revealed that the anamorph does not produce disarticulating elemen ts as had been predicted. Podosordaria is thus redefined to include on ly taxa with anamorphs that are Xylaria-like, more or less assignable to Geniculosporium. Taxa with disarticulating anamorphic elements, ass ignable to Lindquistia, are assigned to Poronia. Two new species, Podo sordaria elephanti and P. muli, are described. The following new combi nations are proposed: Podosordaria entosulphurea, Poronia australiensi s, and Poronia ingii.
