Thecotheus pelletieri T. cinereus and T. crustaceus are described. and
illustrated, with special remarks on cultural features and the develo
pment of conidial forms. This is the first record for Argentina and pr
obably also for South America. The entire life-cycle from ascospore to
ascospore was reconstructed in vitro for the three species. Sporothri
x-like anamorphs producing holoblastic (botryose) conidia were found f
or T. pelletieri and T. crustaceus. Thecotheus pelletieri and T. ciner
eus are undoubtedly homothallic species, whereas T. crustaceus appears
to be heterothallic.
