Abstract
The one-electron reduction potentials of seven methoxy-substituted ben zene radical cations in aqueous solutions have been determined by mean s of pulse radiolysis. In addition, the rate of the reaction between O H- and the radical cation has been measured for 1,4- and 1,2-dimethoxy benzene. A general equation for reduction potentials of 1,4-substitute d benzene radical cations has been derived taking into account experim ental results from this work and results and estimations found in the literature.
