Sw. Gong et Ky. Lam, TRANSIENT-RESPONSE OF STIFFENED COMPOSITE SUBMERSIBLE HULL SUBJECTED TO UNDERWATER EXPLOSIVE SHOCK, Composite structures, 41(1), 1998, pp. 27-37
This paper deals with the transient response of a glass-epoxy composit
e submersible hull subjected to underwater explosive shock. The doubly
asymptotic approximation (DAA) method is employed in this study to de
scribe the fluid-structure interactions. The fluid-structure coupled e
quations, relating structure response to fluid impulsive loadings, are
solved using coupled finite-element and boundary-element codes. Trans
ient stress of the composite submersible hull induced by the underwate
r explosive shock are studied. Effects of the explosive charge weight
and the charge distance from the target on the transient stress are ex
amined. In addition, a comparison between the transient responses to u
nderwater explosive shock for the composite submersible hull and a ste
el submersible hull is made. (C) 1998 Published by Elsevier Science Lt
