Abstract
Six new complexes, RE(C16H15N3O2)(3) and RE(C20H19N3O2Fe)(3) (RE = La, Sm, Y) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR and H-1 NMR spectra. It is proved that these beta-diketones are tr identate ligands to the lanthanide ion. The coordination number of the central RE ion equals nine and we suggest a tricapped trigonal struct ure for these complexes. The inhibition rates of the complexes and the ligands to biological free radicals (O-2(-.) and OH.) were determined .
