A long rod projectile is modeled as a free-free Timoshenko beam. While
penetrating an oblique thin plate, the yawed projectile is subjected
to a transverse point load traveling at a constant speed. The resultin
g equations are solved by applying Laplace transformation and numerica
l inversion. The effects of the slenderness ratio and the cross-sectio
n of the projectile on its transient behavior are studied. (C) 1998 El
