Dm. Leneveu, RADIONUCLIDE MASS-TRANSFER RATES FROM A PINHOLE IN A WASTE CONTAINER FOR AN INVENTORY-LIMITED AND CONSTANT CONCENTRATION SOURCE, Nuclear technology, 123(2), 1998, pp. 184-192
Analytical solutions for transient and steady-state diffusive mass tra
nsfer rates front a pinhole in a waste container are developed for con
stant concentration and inventory-limited source conditions. Mass tran
sport in three media are considered: inside the pinhole (medium 2), ou
tside the container (medium 3), and inside the container (medium I). S
imple equations are developed for radionuclide mass transfer rates fro
m a pinhole. It is shown that the medium with the largest mass transfe
r resistance need only be considered to provide a conservative estimat
e of mass transfer rates.
