Sa. Lovlya, NONTRADITIONAL METHODS OF INITIATING THE EXPLOSION OF COMBUSTIBLE LIQUID-MIXTURES, Combustion, explosion, and shock waves, 33(5), 1998, pp. 626-629
Results of a study of initiation of explosion. of self-igniting combus
tible liquid mixtures of an oxidizer and a fuel are reported. Conditio
ns under which explosion occurs and ranges of compositions for which t
he process is realized are given. A is found that combustible liquid m
ixtures explode upon coming in contact with alkali metals and their al
loys. Boundaries of explosiveness of compositions initiated by alkali
metals, the minimum portion of initiators, and the effectiveness of in
itiation of explosions by the new initiation method are determined.
