Abstract
On the basis of the empirical psudopotential method and independent pa rticle model, electronic and positronic band structures are obtained. The calculated electron and positron chemical potentials give the posi tron and positronium work functions. The deformation potential model i s used in the treatment of the contribution to the relaxation by a pos itron-acoustical phonon, which is needed to calculate the positron dif fusion constant. Calculations of the diffusion-related quantities are presented. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
