To improve the oxidation resistance of carbon, B (OH)(3) and Si (OC2H5
)(4) were dispersed in phenolic resin, and then carbonized at 1300 deg
rees C, 1600 degrees C and 1900 degrees C, The oxidation resistance wa
s investigated by TG-DTA, The results showed that the carbon/ceramic c
omposites with 9 mass% of SiO2: B (OH)(3)=0 : 1 had optimum oxidation
resistance when heated at 1600 degrees C. On the other hand, the sampl
e with SiO2:B (OH)(3)=2: 1 had optimum oxidation resistance when heate
d at 1900 degrees C, Samples containing B(OH)3 mere also heated to 190
0 degrees C and graphitic carbon was obtained.
