We investigate the dynamics of a coupled diode resonator system. New d
ynamical behaviors are found: (i) Unstable orbits embedded in a chaoti
c attractor are stabilized and maintained over a wide range of paramet
er values with a generic accompaniment of hysteresis; and (ii) competi
tion between the attractors when stabilized orbits are maintained over
a stable window results in switching between the attractors of two st
able states in the time domain.
