Abstract
Reaction of (Me2NMe2Si)(3)CLi with AlEt2Cl in toluene followed by recr ystallization of the product from benzene has given the unprecedented title compound, in which a tetrahedral cationic Al(III) center and a p lanar carbanion center form part of a six-membered ring. The correspon ding reaction with AlCl3 has given [<(Al{C(SiMe2N)over bar>Me-2) (SiMe 2NMe2)(2)}Cl-2]. Crystal structures of both products are reported.
