C. Bendlin et R. Volkmer, RESULTS FROM 2-DIMENSIONAL SPECTROSCOPIC OBSERVATIONS OF SOLAR GRANULATION WITH A FABRY-PEROT-INTERFEROMETER, Astronomy and astrophysics, 278(2), 1993, pp. 601-606
With the two-dimensional spectrometer mounted in the Vacuum Tower Tele
scope at the Observatorio del Teide/Tenerife, solar granulation was ob
served in a moderately active region near disk centre. Time series of
white-light pictures and narrow-band images in the Fe I 6303 line were
taken strictly simultaneously. Scanning through the line was accompli
shed by tuning a Fabry-Perot Interferometer (FPI) to different wavelen
gths. As the corresponding full width at half maximum of the FPI passb
and is only 22 mangstrom, the narrow-band filtergrams were used to obt
ain line profiles for a two-dimensional field of view from which physi
cal information was extracted. The evaluation of the time series prese
nted here was aimed at studying the dynamics of solar granulation. In
particular, the investigation of velocity fields in areas with enhance
d magnetic flux density and of granules penetrating into high atmosphe
ric layers led to new results.
