Abstract
Bioskin is a natural polymer produced by Acetobacter xylinum and sever al yeasts in culture. It contains aminosugars which promote ionic adso rption of catalase. Half-life time of immobilized catalase is about 26 .5 days whereas soluble enzyme is inactivated after 3 days at room tem perature. Two classes of catalase subunits are separated by capillary zone electrophoresis from SDS-treated protein whereas four protomers f orming two large and two small subunits are visualized by scanning ele ctron microscopy of a preparation of bioskin-immobilized catalase.
