Lm. Reeve et S. Baumberg, PHYSIOLOGICAL CONTROLS OF ERYTHROMYCIN PRODUCTION BY SACCHAROPOLYSPORA-ERYTHRAEA ARE EXERTED AT LEAST IN PART AT THE LEVEL OF TRANSCRIPTION, Biotechnology letters, 20(6), 1998, pp. 585-589
Erythromycin production by Saccharopolyspora erythraea is confined to
the idiophase, derepressed by low initial glucose or phosphate concent
ration, and repressed when ammonium was used as nitrogen source. The i
diophase limitation and effects of low phosphate or ammonium correlate
d with amounts of ery mRNA revealed by Northern blotting, indicating t
hat they act at least partly at the transcriptional level.
