Abstract
Insulin-like growth factors (IGF-I and -II) promote cellular mitosis a nd differentiation and have been implicated in fetal and placental gro wth. Together with the IGF receptors and IGF binding proteins (IGFBPs) they form a complex network, with tissue specific activity. This revi ew will discuss the data generated to elucidate the functions of the I GF system during mouse development. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ireland Ltd. All rights reserved.
