Two new species of Caulerpa (Caulerpales, Chlorophyta), C. constricta
and C. heterophylla, are described from the coast of Western Australia
. Caulerpa constricta is an articulate species with simple or branched
cylindrical axes locking morphologically differentiated ramuli. In ge
neral appearance, C. heterophylla most closely resembles Caulerpa flex
ilis Lamouroux, especially var, muelleri (Sonder) Womersley. However,
C. heterophylla differs in forming conical protuberances on the stolon
s and two rather distinct types of unbranched ramuli on the fronds.
