L. Rosescu et al., SYNTHESIS OF NEW POLYESTERS CONTAINING PHOSPHORUS-HETEROCYCLES AND HALOGEN, Die Angewandte makromolekulare Chemie, 257, 1998, pp. 7-11
Two series of polyesters containing phenoxaphosphine rings and several
halogens were synthesized by low-temperature solution polycondensatio
n in the presence of triethylamine. One series, containing halogens on
ly in the bisphenol moiety, was obtained from -dichloroformyl-10-pheny
lphenoxaphosphine-10-oxide and chlorinated bisphenol. In the second se
ries, halogens belonged both to bisphenol and diacid dichlorides. For
the last series, formyl-10-(4-bromophenyl)phenoxaphosphine-10-oxide wa
s prepared as a new monomer. All resulting polyesters were characteriz
ed by elemental analysis, reduced viscosity, IR and H-1 NMR spectrosco
py, and thermogravimetric analysis. These polymers began to lose weigh
t at about 400 degrees C in air being seen as self-extinguishing ones.
