Abstract
The ultrastructural lesions of lead poisoning and the deposition of le ad in liver, kidney, peritoneum, cerebellum and retina of dogs were st udied. Specimens were obtained from 5 3-4 mo-old cross-breed dogs each injected ip with a total dose of 120 mg lead acetate, divided in 10 e qual doses of 12 mg,administered every other day. Two dogs were contro ls. Histopathological examination revealed degeneration of the epithel ial cells of the urinary tubules, the endothelial cells of the renal c apillaries and the hepatocytes. Characteristics lead inclusion bodies were observed intracytoplasmically in the interstitial connective tiss ue cells of the kidney, and substancial quantities of the lead were in collagen fibers of the interstitial kidney tissue.
