Abstract
Dimensional analysis is used to derive the distribution of solar flare
energies, p(epsilon) = A epsilon(-3/2), in accordance with recent obs
ervational and numerical results. Several other scalings, notably epsi
lon similar to tau(fl)(2), where tau(fl) is the flare duration, are ob
tained as well.
