Abstract
A newly-designed plastic alignment platform formed by a precise inject ion molding technique is proposed for connecting a polymer waveguide f ilm to optical fibers. This platform consists of a pair of parallel ar rayed V-grooves separated by a Hat cavity for the polymer waveguide Hi m. The core positions of the film are strictly determined by using pol ymer processing techniques including microlithography. A precisely ali gned connection is then realized simply by placing the polymer wavegui de in the mount cavity of the component. This provides an average conn ection loss of 0.2 dB/port.
