Abstract
Incisional skin wounds in the early gestation fetus heal rapidly and w ithout scarring. If the biological characteristics that make fetal ski n resistant to scarring are determined, these properties might be repl icated in the adult environment with tremendous clinical benefit. This article provides an overview of the biology of fetal repair.
