Control of scar formation is one of the most important objectives of m
edical science. For patients that manifest hyperkinetic, keloid or oth
er problem scars, the need for effective therapy is particularly impor
tant. Over the past few years, new therapeutic strategies have been in
troduced and there are more on the horizon. This article briefly revie
ws the mode of action and clinical applications in the context of a ge
neral overview of useful strategies to control scar formation.
