Abstract
The Brumer-Stark conjecture generalizes Stickelberger's Theorem on Gau ss sums to arbitrary abelian extensions K/k of number fields. We prove that if the axioms of the conjecture hold in K/k and k'/k is a sub-ex tension of K/k, then they also hold in K/k'.
