Abstract
We obtain the dispersion relations in a metallic foil using the hydrod ynamic model for metallic electrons. Both surface as well as bulk mode s are discussed for several metals of varying thickness and the result s are compared with recent work on electron layers in semiconducting m aterials. It is found that results obtained from our simple model comp are favorably with those obtained from more elaborate calculations.
