Abstract
We combine thermometry and magnetotransport experiments on Hall bar ge ometry samples out of metallic n-InSb for probing a local difference i n dissipation which is caused by a theoretically predicted magnetic-fi eld-induced inhomogeneous current distribution due to a step in the sa mple thickness. Measured local temperature differences can be related to a calculated current density pattern via a numerical solution of th e hear transport equation. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
