Abstract
The problem of the bifurcation of the equilibrium positions of conserv ative systems whose potential energy is independent of the signs of th e variables that occur in it is discussed. A method for the sequential determination of the equilibrium positions of such systems, beginning with the trivial ones, in order of their increasing complexity, is pr oposed.
