Abstract
Spatial characteristics of a straw detector with a cathode readout are studied. It is shown that the detector using fast-response preamplifi ers provides a 70-90-mu m spatial resolution and shows a sufficiently linear and spatially uniform performance when recording gamma-quanta p roduced by a Fe-55 source. These devices can be used as precision coor dinate detectors in experiments performed at accelerators and also as image detectors in other studies involving nuclear physics methods.
