Abstract
A single three point bend specimen compliance method for determining J (IC) of high strength high fracture toughness steels is presented and a formula for calculating J-integral is proposed as follows: J = (PC)- C-2/BS root BEC/0.9 [1 + 2mA/m + 1(E/0.9S(2))(m)(P . C)(m - 1)] It is simple and valid for high strength high fracture toughness steels. The values of J(IC) and K-IC measured by this method are in good agreemen t with those measured by standard test method.
