Abstract
Spinel LiMn2O4 and LiCo0.1Mn1.9O4 were synthesized by solid state reac tions and were used as the positive electrode in liquid cells with Li as the negative electrode. Through extensive ball milling of the spine l with carbon black during the preparation of the cathodic mix, signif icant decrease in contact resistance between the oxide phase and carbo n particles was achieved. The spinel LiCo0.1Mn1.9O4 cathode so prepare d showed good cyclability and rate capability. (C) 1998 Elsevier Scien ce S.A. All rights reserved.
