Copper(II) and nickel(II) complexes with selected hylenebis(1-phenyl-3
-methyl-4-acylpyrazoloneimine) ligands were synthesised and characteri
sed spectroscopically. Molar conductivity measurements for the complex
es in DMF indicate that the complexes are neutral. The metals reacted
with the Schiff bases in the metal:ligand mole ratio of 1:1 to form an
hydrous complexes. Bands in the UV spectral region of the complexes we
re due to pi-->pi transitions. A weak broad band due to d-d transitio
n was observed in the visible region.
