Abstract
A new Schiff base, H-2[DB:G-P], obtained from 2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyd e and glycyl-DL-phenylalanine reacted with Cu(II), Zn(II), Ni(II) and Co(II) to yield new complexes. The complexes were characterized by ele mental analyses, molar conductance, H-1 NMR, DTA, TG, IR and UV spectr oscopy. In these complexes the ligand is coordinated to the metal thro ugh its phenolic oxygen, carboxyl oxygen, imino nitrogen and amide nit rogen. All complexes are non-electrolytes and tetra-coordinated with 1 :1 (metal : ligand) stoichiometry. A probable structure of the complex es is suggested.
