LINEAR CORRELATION BETWEEN SURFACE STRESS AND SURFACE-CHARGE IN ANIONADSORPTION ON AU(111)

Voltammetry and quantitative surface stress measurements of anion adso rption on Au(111) have been performed simultaneously at the metal \ el ectrolyte interface. A linear correlation between surface stress and i nterfacial charge was observed. It is shown that this representation i s to be preferred to the usual voltstressogram, since the structure of the latter is dominated by the differential capacity. (C) 1998 Elsevi er Science S.A.
