Hj. Crawford et al., PREDICTION OF ENHANCED PRODUCTION OF STRANGE MATTER AT CERN SPS, Physical review. D. Particles and fields, 48(9), 1993, pp. 4474-4477
The inclusion of the curvature tem in the mass formula for drops of st
range matter, S drops, destabilizes them for a baryon number A approxi
mately 10. Nevertheless, the strangeness content observed in the recen
t NA36 experiment at CERN leads to a larger estimate, compared to expe
riments at BNL, of the average number of s quarks per participant nucl
eon, which in turn enhances the production probability of S drops of b
aryon number 20 less than or similar A less than or similar 40. Hence,
one should not lose this window of opportunity to detect S drops in r
elativistic heavy-ion collisions at fixed-target experiments at CERN.
