A method is presented for estimating the time-varying compliance param
eters of the elbow joint from a single movement. The method separates
by frequency the perturbed from the voluntary response, then determine
s the parameters by exponentially weighted least squares. The tracking
performance of the method is established by simulation and by a calib
rated mechanical joint. Experimental results are presented on time-var
ying posture and slow movement.
