A. Stunault et al., POLARIZATION ANALYSIS IN THE 3-25 KEV RANGE AT THE ESRF MAGNETIC SCATTERING BEAMLINE, Journal of synchrotron radiation, 5, 1998, pp. 1010-1012
The ESRF magnetic scattering beamline has been optimized for easy tuna
bility of the polarization and energy in the 3-40 keV range. The linea
r horizontal polarization from the undulator reaches 99.9%, with a flu
x of similar to 10(12) photons s(-1) at the sample. The diffractometer
can operate in horizontal and vertical geometries, with an energy or
polarization analyser. The capabilities of this beamline in terms of B
ur, energy tunability and polarization, permitted polarization analysi
s of resonant magnetic scattering from antiferromagnetic UPd2Si2 at bo
th the L-2- and M-4-edges of uranium, to separate the contributions of
the 5f and 6d electrons to the magnetism.
