The problem of an acoustic field generated by a point source moving wi
th arbitrary velocity in a stratified medium in an underwater environm
ent has been addressed by Lim and Ozard. The aim of this paper is to i
nvestigate the field of a pulse emitted by a moving point source in th
e presence of a moving fluid. The point source is excited by a rectang
ular pulse with a finite non-zero rise a.nd decay time. For a slow-mov
ing source the field is expressed entirely in terms of contemporary ti
me. Finally, the physical interpretation of the result is discussed.
