Abstract
A list is given of the mammals recorded from the Peninsula of Paria. S ucre State. The following vegetation types are present in the area, li ttoral, coastal mangrove, deciduous, semideciduous and cloud coastal f orests. The information given is based upon collections and observatio ns made by PROFAUNA and other institutions as well as those referred t o in the bibliography. The dominant orders were Chiroptera, Rodentia a nd Didelphimorphia. On the Peninsula of Paria, species in common with the Guiana Region (N=87), with the Coastal Range (N=83), with the Llan os Region (N=55) and the Islands of Trinidad and Tobago (N=70), were, recorded. There are also typical elements of the Guiana-Amazonian Regi on such as Choloepus didactylus and Cyclopes didactylus; others derive d from the Coastal Range such as Marmosa robinsoni and Heteromys anoma lus and from the Llanos Region Hydrochaeris hydrochaeris. New records are given and the distribution of several species is confirmed.
