Spanish researchers who publish in Spanish-language scientific journal
s and not in Science Citation Index (SCI) journals have huge cash prob
lems. In light of the present Spanish Science Policy, it is possible t
o say that to write only in Spanish is economic and professional suici
de. This is a serious consequence of the present erroneous Spanish Sci
ence Policy which can be appreciated by the experiences of those resea
rchers who work in local and regional items, including fieldwork, samp
lings, etc. The point is not to discuss the historical reasons which m
ake English the first scientific language in the World, the problem is
the present split between international accepted Science and traditio
nal Spanish-Hispanic Science which studies local and regional items. I
n short, it is important that Spanish and Hispanic authorities protect
Spanish-language Science, as an important network of institutions, jo
urnals and documentation exist which think, work and write in Spanish.
