Abstract
The contribution of three-phonon processes to the thermal conductivity of dielectric crystals is rigorously described in the frame of an iso tropic model and expressed in terms or the interatomic pair potential. In this way the final formula does not contain adjustable parameters and represents a reliable tool to evaluate the weight of the above pro cesses: for Ar and Kr they are shown to be sufficient to explain the e xperimental values of the conductivity.
